From bright sun, beautiful flowers, hot sand, chirping birds, and long days, we now enter a new color of life. Summer ends, Fall begins. I have always dreaded Fall and Winter. It seems like an end to all of the wonderful things I love in life - sun, sand, and sail. As I grow older, I am yearning to embrace the seasons and be thankful for the blessings that surround us, even if they don't seem like blessings at the time. Today, we gathered our final garden harvest (in between crazy careers, house purchase, house remodel, kid in year-round sports, and a new chicken family). This is not an end. It's a reward for persevering. The colors of our harvest are still beautiful on this dreary chilly day. Some plants were neglected with our focus on a kitchen remodel, new porch, new driveway, and celebrating triples and touchdowns. One of my favorite quotes "There is always, always something to be thankful for."
Stay tuned as I learn to love weather below 85 degrees, grow to know that an end is not an end, just a different perspective. And oh geez, maybe even see the purpose of sitting on ice fishing.
